Cluedo game kills off Mrs White, the BBC has reported.
One of the six original characters of the board game Cluedo, Mrs White, has been killed off by game makers Hasbro.
The long-time housekeeper is being replaced by Dr Orchid, who has a PhD in plant toxicology and was home-schooled by Mrs White herself.
Maybe it was something I said as a retired home-educator? (N.B. not home-schooler)
Or was it that other Mrs White, the former Children’s Minister Aileen Campbell, who is now in charge of public health? She was always a bit handy with her candelabra.
At least we now know who Hasbro’s Named Person is after our previous enquiries drew a blank in relation to the Scottish Government’s use of the company’s trade mark for its GIRFEC Cluedo game.
According to Craig Wilkins, marketing director for Hasbro in the UK and Ireland,
It was a difficult decision to say goodbye to Mrs White, but after 70 years of suspicious activity we decided that one of the characters had to go.
Having bumped off Mrs White, Hasbro’s head gardener wasted no time in completing and sharing the data-rich chronology of her aptly-named replacement character.
Dr Orchid is a brilliant new character with a rich back story and links to the Black fortune.”
Will Colonel Mustard be next? He is the only one of the remaining characters who has not been subject to deadly intervention – but maybe he has friends in high places.
No doubt the Cluedo board will be continuously monitoring all the characters’ usefulness to the economy, which is, after all, the name of the GIRFEC game.
