On the 700th anniversary of the Declaration of Arbroath, here is a gallery of images as a reminder of the Declaration of Freedom in Education, signed by John Taylor Gatto during his visit to Scotland in September 2008. Calligraphy is by a home educated young person who went on to graduate from the Glasgow School of Art.
Along with images of home educating families who attended the Learning Without Limits conference, our renowned keynote speaker, who sadly died in 2018, is pictured with artist Chad McCail whose depiction of the origins of state schooling was inspired by Gatto’s work, and Robin Harper MSP.
